Small Ad Agencies VS. Big Ad Agencies

June 27th, 2009
Donald Varner asked:

How can you say when you will need a small ad agency or a big one? If you are trying to decide whether to use the services of a small or big ad agencies, it is safe to consider certain things first before you hand over your marketing plan.

Big ad agencies are stable. They are great in taking care of big budget projects, in a grand scale. However, if you have a small business, going to big ad agencies is not advisable because you are just going to wait and wait. Big ad agencies have the tendency to prioritize big companies and big projects.

On the other hand, a small agency has the luxury to focus on your business’ needs. It is due to the lower overheads that a small agency is also much more flexible when it comes to both pricing and urgency..

A few things that make big agencies difficult to deal with are its arrogance and the complicated bureaucratic ladder that it carries. Typically, the Senior Creative Artist and Executive Account Manager who may have pitched your business would be pitching another new business account somewhere and you’ll end up working with “newbies”, neophytes, or trainees. This doesn’t happen when you work with a small agency because you work directly with the CEO and Senior Creative Artist. This is what your business needs: people with the skills, experience and wisdom that adequately push you to actually sell more and increase brand awareness.

An axiom to the notion that big ad agencies have a complicated bureaucratic ladder is the reality that it has too many employees. This means that you should have a big budget for an advertising campaign for big agencies to consider prioritizing your ad project. On the other hand, a small agency will almost be a sellout in offering you their services in high quality and standard. They are prepared to work overtime, even during the weekends just to get your ad campaign done in time. Free from big agency politics, a small agency is set to deal and concentrate on the project at hand: your business and its marketing plan.

Small advertising agencies are the backbone of advertising in the US. This means that there are still thousands of businesses out there that are waiting to get a chance at the spotlight. It is a fact that in US alone, millions of dollars go to advertising campaigns. And even during this time of recession, creative marketing happens every day. And pitches go to the ones who can demonstrate the smartest use and best value for their client’s dollars.

In an economic crisis like this, ask yourself, “Why do I need to get the services of big ad agencies when everywhere in the advertising world, budget is being cut. Your company needs to do more with less, you don’t have a choice. You don’t want to overspend on advertising campaign and have the same result as if you have cut your budget lower.

Always remember that trends in advertising are constantly changing. Ad Agencies need to adapt to it. Smaller agencies are better positioned to be able to change quickly. Adaptable, smaller agencies will see a disproportionate number of wins coming at them that before may have looked belonging to big ad agencies.

Great Job Agencies in the US

June 18th, 2009
Christa Kowalczyk asked:

Are you searching for the perfect job? Here we provide a list of agencies around the country offering temporary staff jobs of all kinds. Just browse over the list and give the agency a call or a visit.

Employment agencies are known as companies, which match workers in certain open jobs. The temporary agency is different from the recruitment firm for it intends to place employees under permanent employment. However, there is usually a big overlap. The temporary employee may become a permanent employee. There are also cases wherein a worker is hired by a company as a permanent worker but may enter as a trial temporary employee.

Here is a list of agencies around the country, which offers temporary staff jobs of all kinds. Just browse over the list and give the agency a call or a visit:

A-Plus Staffing, Inc.

Temp-to-Hire, Temp, Contract placement and Direct Hire which include Finance/Accounting, Administrative, Healthcare, Call Center, Technical/IT, Legal and Light Industrial. Tips to Help You in Choosing a Good Financial Recruitment Agency

June 11th, 2009
David asked:

Many companies are increasingly turning to recruitment agencies for their low to medium level – and sometimes even executive staffing needs. Most of the companies turning to recruitment agencies for their staffing needs are doing so in the spirit of outsourcing their non-core functions. The companies that turn to recruitment agencies in the spirit of outsourcing non-core functions normally engage the companies to help them ease the much sorting which is involved in the initial recruitment stages.

Other companies are turning to recruitment agencies in a bid to get the very best professionals in the various fields. In this aspect, employers are acting on the knowledge that recruitment agencies receive more resumes (as they are ever in ‘recruitment mode’), have more time to go through the numerous resumes (since it’s the agencies’ core business), and know what to look for in a particular field (as they are more in touch with the trends and developments in human resource management). In the case of top executives the recruitment agencies have the capacity to go head-hunting, even among competing companies without raising eyebrows and the animosity such head-hunting in a competitor’s backyard can raise if undertaken by the employers themselves.

One of the staffing areas where employers are increasingly turning to recruitment agencies is in finance. This means that people looking for jobs in finance are increasingly having to enlist with finance recruitment agencies to get their dream jobs. And due to increasing relevance of the finance recruitment agencies, many bogus financial recruitment agencies have also sprung up, to take advantage of gullible job seekers. So how is one to tell a good finance recruitment agency from a bogus one?

It is hard to tell for sure, but there are some things that can give you a hint.

1.     The industry reputation of the agency: You need to check out and find out what the industry reputation of the finance recruitment agency in question is. With the freedom of information that has become available through the Internet, this should not really be hard. You can, for example do a web-search with the name of the finance recruitment agency in question as the keyword, and see what information is available about them on the web, preferably in independent websites, that is, websites run by people who are beyond the influence of the recruitment agency in question.

2.     The Fees They Charge: The fees that a finance recruitment agency charges (if any) should compare favorably with the service they provide, rather than just with their (big) name. Many people make the mistake of paying a large fee to an established recruitment agency, without asking themselves what they are getting for their money.  In this respect, a finance recruitment agency that goes out of its way to properly market you to prospective employers who are likely to have some jobs in finance generally merits a higher fee than a recruitment agency which just files your resume – but then this varies from case to case.

3.     The Success Rate of the agency: The success rate of the finance recruitment agency in question is another factor you need to look at. If you are looking at a general recruitment agency, what is their success in finance recruitment? In looking at the success rate of any given recruitment agency in finance recruitment, you might for example go to an online recruitment forum, then go to the  financial recruitment section and see what past users of the particular financial recruitment agency have to say about it and how their general experience with the agency was. Of course opinion in such a forum is likely to vary, and there will inevitably be negative feedback even for the best recruitment agencies. Nevertheless, if all the feedback about a given agency seems to be on the negative, it might be a valid warning not to go in that direction.

Entertainment Agencies - The Best Way To Find And Book Entertainment

June 4th, 2009
Paul Sims asked:

Most people have had or been to an event or party at which they had entertainment. How did they find it? Was it any good? The answer to the first question is they probably used their local telephone directory, the Internet or had seen the act or service personally. The answer to the second question is sometimes yes and sometimes no.

So why use an entertainment agency to find what you are looking for? Well first it takes the hit and miss out of finding what you are looking for, a good entertainment agency has access to lots of different forms of entertainment and will save you the problem of locating it. Secondly a good entertainment agency lives on its reputation, so it is in their interest to make sure that the entertainment they supply is of good quality. As the saying goes, you are only as good as your last event. Imagine you are looking for a band, you can spend ages searching the net only to find that what you want is already booked, and searching can take hours, and do you have that time to spare? If you use the phone to contact entertainers and lets say contact 10 at an average of 3 minutes a call, that is 30 minutes of calls on your telephone bill, it may not seem much but it adds up especially if the contact number is a mobile one. And if you do manage to find what you are looking for how do you know it will be any good? Contacting a reputable entertainment agency takes away all the headaches, as they will do all the work for you.

There are things to bear in mind, a reputable agency has quality acts and services which will be in high demand, so make sure you start looking at least 3 months in advance of an event, don’t leave it until the last minute. Only contact one agency, many top quality agencies work with each other to source your needs, contacting 3 or 4 of them means they are duplicating work, time which could be spent on another client. If you were that other client ask yourself how you would feel, if the agency you were using had lost time they could have been using to help you. Running an entertainment agency we often used to get enquiries from people and start looking for their requirements only to have another agency contact us looking for the same thing for the same person. Nowadays we ask if any other agency is being used and if they are we polity refuse to waste time looking for the same thing, if we are told no other agency is involved and find out otherwise then we will drop the client. Many quality agencies act likewise, so you could find yourself back at square one or using a less than reputable entertainment agency.

The next question many people ask is how much will it cost, the answer is nothing unless you cancel, then you may have to pay a cancellation fee. An entertainment agency makes its money in the form of commission from the acts it represents, in other words they pay us for finding them the work. If you cancel the agency makes no commission, which pays for its time and effort on your behalf, therefore most agencies will make a cancellation charge, after all they have staff to pay just like any business. Similarly you might also have to pay a cancellation charge to an act or service in addition to the agency charge, if you have booked them then they are unable to take on other work for the date in question.

The other question is how long will it take? This can vary, many acts and services are registered with numerous agencies and don’t always keep them informed of availability, secondly each act will charge a fee depending on the factors of the event such as getting to it, possible overnight accommodation etc, so a reputable agency will make contact with them to find if they are available and at what cost. If an act or service is on holiday or working away it may take a while for them to get back to the agency, so allow for this. If you haven’t heard anything from an agency within 3 days then give them a call and ask for an update. A good agency will always tell you if they cannot find what you are looking for or if they have been unsuccessful. If that is the case then you can try another. Remember that with an agency you will get a contract, which will state all the relevant details, and you will have a legal document to give you peace of mind.

Remember entertainment agencies live to provide clients with a service, make use of it and save your time and a possible headache.
